Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The Journal publishes original articles written either in Arabic or English or French languages in the fields of Law Sciences.
  • The submission file is in .docx or .doc document file format.
  • Manuscripts should not have been published before or considered for publication elsewhere.
  • Submitted manuscripts should not be parts of published books.
  • Accepted manuscripts or parts of them cannot be published elsewhere without written permission from the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Authors must agree to transfer copyright to the publisher. If the Journal wishes to reprint the article, prior permission must be obtained from the authors.
  • Authors must disclose sources of funding.
  • Manuscripts received by the Journal cannot be returned whether published or not.

Author Guidelines

​1- Authors should conform to the submission guidelines specified by UOS Journals and should be highly committed to responsible research conduct and ethical publication standards.

2- Authors must confirm that they meet UOS Journals' criteria for authorship.

3- Authors of original research work should present an accurate account of the work and an appropriate discussion of its significance.

4- A submitted manuscript should contain sufficient details and references so as to allow others to cite the work.

5- Authors must avoid all kinds of unethical behavior such as plagiarism, fabrication and falsification.

6- Authors may be asked to provide the raw data of their work together with the paper for editorial review and should be ready to make the data publicly available if requested to do so.

7- Authors shall submit only fully original works, and shall properly cite the work of others. Research works that have been influential in determining the nature of the submitted manuscript should equally be cited.

8- Authors shall be asked to confirm that they have received a written authorization from all their co-authors who significantly contributed to the work.

9- Submission of the same manuscript to more than one journal is an unethical publishing behavior.

10- By submitting a manuscript, the author(s) retain the rights to the published material.

11- Authors retain copyright of their work, and once the work has been accepted for publication, they are required to transfer copyright to the publisher. If the Journal wishes to reprint the article, prior permission must be obtained from the authors.

12- Authors must disclose sources of funding and should disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence the evaluation of their manuscript.

13- If an author discovers a serious error in his/her published work, it is his/her responsibility to notify the editor or publisher so as to withdraw or correct the error.

 

Submission Guidelines

OBJECTIVES:

The Journal is intended to contribute to the development and dissemination of knowledge by publishing original research and reviewing papers in all fields of Law Siences and to serve as an archival record for studies in these fields.

AREAS OF INTEREST - The Journal publishes:

  1. Original research in Law Siences.

  2. Research concerned with texts on Law Sciences heritage.

  3. Critical research related to specialized publications in the areas of interest covered by the Journal.

  4. Scholarly research dealing with contemporary and emerging problems in society in the fields of Law Siences.

  5. Scholarly research contributing to social progress and serving to safeguard the Law Siences identity.

LANGUAGES:

The Journal publishes research in Arabic, English and French.

 

REFEREEING:

All articles submitted for publication are subjected to peer refereeing. Final acceptance is subject to authors making all appropriate modifications suggested by the referees. Sole responsibility for contents, however, rests with the authors, not the editors or the Journal.

 

PUBLICATION CONDITIONS:

  • Manuscripts should not have been published before.

  • Submitted manuscripts should not be considered for publication elsewhere.

  • Accepted manuscripts may not be published elsewhere without written permission from the Editor-in-Chief.

  • Authors must agree to transfer copyright to the publisher. If the Journal wishes to reprint the article, prior permission must be obtained from the authors.

  • Permission to use previously published material must be obtained by the authors.

  • Authors must disclose sources of funding.

  • A Soft copy of the offprints will be sent to the author.

  • Manuscripts received by the Journal cannot be returned whether published or not.

MANUSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Manuscripts should be less than 9000 words.

  2. Manuscripts must have the following sections: a one-page abstract in Arabic and English (about 200 words each); keywords; an introduction; a main body divided into the appropriate sections and sub-sections; a conclusion; brief biographies of authors; and a list of references.

  3. Authors' full names and current affiliations must be given immediately below the title of the article.

  4. Manuscripts should be typed, double spaced, in Simplified Arabic, 14 points font for the main text, and 12 points font for the endnotes. Only one side of the sheet should be used, and all copies must be meticulously proofread.

  5. Figures, graphs, and illustrations should be included in the text and should be in black and white. They should also be consecutively numbered and given titles beneath them.

  6. Tables should be included within the text and consecutively numbered and given titles above them.

  7. Footnotes are provided only when necessary.
  8. Citations in the endnotes should be given as follows:

    a. Books : Sources are cited in the text by means of consecutive numbers in superscript placed in parentheses, e.g., (1), (2), (3) , referring to detailed references at the bottom of the same page. In the endnote, citations follow this order: author's full name followed by a comma, title in italics if it is in a European language, followed by the editor's or translator's name, followed by a comma, followed by a parenthesis, followed by the place of publication, followed by a comma, followed by the publisher's name, followed by a comma, followed by the year of publication in Hijri and Gregorian calendars, followed by a parenthesis, followed by a comma, followed by the edition number symbolized by the letters: ed., followed by a comma, followed by the volume number symbolized by the letters: vol., followed by a colon, followed by the page number, followed by a full stop.

    Examples: H.W. Briggs, Law of Nations, (London, 1985), 2nd. ed., pp. 45-65.

    If this reference is mentioned again, it is abbreviated as follows: Briggs, Law of Nations, pp. 45-65.

    b. Article in a periodical : Example: M.A.S. Abdel Haleem, Qur'anic Orthography: Tha written Representation of the Recited Text of the Qur'an, Islamic Quarterly, (London, 1994) xxxviii, 3, pp. 171-92.

  9. The approved citation method is APA 7 only. Below is the citation method:

General Rules

  • The reference list starts on a new page (the title must be bold and   centered)
  • References must not be numbered (we use alphabetical order)
  • The list of references must not be divided into sections
  • Double line-spacing in articles and references.
  • We use “pp.” for page numbers in two cases only: in a book chapter or in conference proceedings. We do not use “pp.” for journal articles: we write the page numbers only (e.g. 220-235)
  • The use of commas: we use a comma in the following cases:
  • Immediately after the title of a journal
  • After the journal’s volume and issue and before page umbers (e.g. The English Language Journal, 12(5), 23-25).
  • After the editor in a book chapter (e.g. «.....In J. Smith (Ed.), Introduction to Sociology Review (pp. 112-130).
  • After the type of published thesis before the name of the university, for example: [Doctoral thesis, University of Sharjah]
  • After the author's last name, for example: (Brown, A.)
  • For unpublished theses: the name of the university is written outside  the square brackets and it is not followed by a comma; we use a period, instead: e.g. [Unpublished Master's Thesis]. University of Sharjah.
  • The book’s edition comes immediately after the title: for example:

     History of Science (3rd ed.). Modern Press.

  • The first edition of a book must not be mentioned.
  • If there is no issue number of a journal, we include the volume number  in italics. E.g.: Journal of Science, 34, 67-89.
  • We use italics in: book titles, journal titles, PhD or MA titles, volume number of a journal and research papers in unpublished conference proceedings.
