Plagiarism Policy
Statement and Policy
The University of Sharjah (UoS) Journals has no tolerance for plagiarism and it establishes this policy when plagiarism is identified in an article submitted for publication in University of Sharjah (UoS) Journals.
Plagiarism involves the "use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and their presentation as one's original work."
Papers must be original, unpublished, and not waiting for publication. Any material text taken from another source needs to be identified as a different presentation within the submission, including: (1) indentation, (2) use of quotation marks, and (3) citation of the source.
Any text of a length exceeding a few statements or any graphic material used from another source requires permission from the copyright holder and requires marking of the source.
All submitted titles will be checked for their similarity by Turnitin.
When plagiarism is found, the Editor responsible for the review of the paper will follow the following guidelines:
Similarity Level
The University of Sharjah (UoS) Journals practices no tolerance for plagiarism. The submission system uses Turnitin to check the similarity index.
The Editorial Board has passed the following actions:
- Similarity Index Above 40%: the editor rejects the article, and NO RESUBMISSION is
- Similarity Index between 15 and 40%: the article is sent back to the and good paraphrasing is required even if the citation is identified.
- Similarity Index Less Than 15%: accepted
- In cases 2 and 3: The authors should carefully revise the article, add required citations, properly paraphrase outsourced text, and resubmit the article with a Turnitin report indicating NO PLAGIARISM and less than 15% similarity.
