Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in .docx or .doc document file format.
  • Manuscripts should not have been published before or considered for publication elsewhere. A written statement to that effect should be submitted along with the manuscript.
  • Submitted manuscripts should not be parts of published books.
  • The author agrees to transfer all copyrights to the journal.
  • Authors must agree to transfer copyright to the publisher. If the Journal wishes to reprint the article, prior permission must be obtained from the authors.
  • Authors must disclose sources of funding.
  • Manuscripts received by the Journal cannot be returned whether published or not.
  • Write the Holy Quran words in Mosuhaf Al-Madina Font.

Author Guidelines

Instructions for Authors

1. Authors must comply with the submission guidelines set by the University of Sharjah Journals and adhere to responsible research conduct and ethical publishing standards.

2. Authors must ensure that they meet the University of Sharjah Journals' authorship criteria.

3. Authors of original research must provide a precise description of the work and an appropriate explanation of its significance.

4. The submitted manuscript must contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to cite the work.

5. Authors must avoid all forms of unethical behavior, such as plagiarism, fabrication, and forgery.

6. Authors may be asked to submit raw data about their work with the manuscript for editorial review and should be willing to make the data available to readers if requested to do so.

7. Authors must submit original work and must properly cite the work of others, including research that has influenced the nature of the submitted article.

8. Authors are required to confirm that they have obtained written permission from all co-authors who have contributed significantly to the work.

9. Submitting the same article to more than one journal is considered unethical publishing behavior.

10. The author(s) retains the rights to the published material by submitting the manuscript.

11. Authors retain the copyright to their work, and once the work is accepted for publication, they must transfer the copyright to the publisher. If the journal wishes to reprint the article, prior permission must be obtained from the authors.

12. Authors must disclose their sources of funding and disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that might affect the evaluation of their manuscript.

13. If the author discovers a serious error in their published work, it is their responsibility to notify the editor-in-chief or publisher to withdraw or correct the error.

Requirements for Submitted Manuscripts
Objectives:

The University of Sharjah Journal of Sharia and Islamic Studies aims to contribute to the development and dissemination of knowledge by publishing original scholarly research and scholarly reviews in the fields of Sharia research and studies. The journal will also serve as a documentary record of Sharia research and studies.

Journal Focus: The journal is dedicated to publishing the following:

  1. Sound scholarly research in areas of specialization.
  2. Research and studies related to Arab and Islamic heritage texts.
  3. Critical research and studies related to publications in the journal's areas of specialization.
  4. Scholarly research and studies addressing contemporary problems and emerging issues in the field of Sharia and Islamic studies.
  5. Scholarly research and studies that contribute to the cultural advancement of society, and research and studies that contribute to the preservation of its Arab and Islamic identity.

Publication Language: Research is published in the journal in both Arabic and English.

Review:

All research submitted for publication is referred to specialists for scholarly review. The research is finally accepted after the researcher makes any required amendments. However, responsibility for the content of the research lies solely with the researchers. Published research reflects the views of its authors, not the journal's, and the journal's editorial board is not responsible for its content.

  1. Publication Conditions:
    The research must not exceed (9,000) words.
  2. The research must not have been previously published, and the researcher must provide a pledge to that effect.
  3. The research must not be submitted for publication in another journal.
  4. The research may not be published elsewhere after its publication in the University of Sharjah Journal unless written permission is obtained from the editor-in-chief.
  5. The researcher must agree to transfer all publishing rights to the research to the journal. If the journal wishes to republish it, it must obtain written permission from the author.
  6. The researcher must obtain appropriate permission to use previously published material.
  7. The researcher must be informed of sources supporting their research.
  8. The researcher will be provided with an electronic copy of their research output.
  9. The original manuscripts submitted to the journal will not be returned, whether published or not.

Requirements for the text submitted for publication:

  1. The research must contain: a one-page abstract in both Arabic and English, with a limit of (150) words for each abstract. The research must include words indicating the precise specialization of the research, an introduction, a body of the research divided into appropriate sections, and conclusions from it. It must also include a brief biography of the researcher and a list of sources and references.
  2. The researcher's name and current address should be mentioned immediately after the title of the research.
  3. Research should be submitted in Times New Roman, size (14) for the text in the body, and in the same size (12) for the footnotes at the bottom of each page. The research should be typed on one side, leaving 1.5 spaces between lines. Careful proofreading should be observed in all copies.
  4. Graphs and illustrations should be included in the text. They should be in black and white and numbered consecutively. Their names and explanatory notes should be written below them.
  5. Tables should be included in the text and numbered consecutively. Their names should be written above them. Explanatory notes should be written below the table.
  6. The approved method of documentation is Chicago only.
